על הספר

"With no girlfriend, no place of his own, no ambition and no prospects, the only real direction in Lem's life seems to be the tracks of the Victoria Line which take him daily to work. There, the likes of Emily, Nokia, Jason and Kemal stubbornly resist his efforts to make the Fibonacci code fun. One day in June, Lem gets the distinct feeling that he is unravelling; he needs to take control of his life and change it radically before he reaches the end of the line, but who will show him the way?" "Could it be the mesmerisingly explicit Devora and her internet-dating confessions, or is the porn addict Steve the one to show him the route of manhood? Does the answer lie with Lem's brash and repeatedly marrying father, Todd? Or perhaps the guide he really needs is Dean, and their wordless fishing trips in the fields and marshes of the Thames estuary." "A Boy's Guide to Track and Field sparks a vision of uncertainty, of a place where people lose their bearings but, ultimately, a place of realignment. The story starts at Walthamstow and travels southbound towards Brixton, as the reader is swept along with Lem in a review of his past which gradually accelerates into the present until ... 'this train terminates at Brixton.'"--BOOK JACKET.
