A Celebration of Cats

Written by one of America's most successful and prolific authors (over fifty books on pets and wildlife), A Celebration of Cats is the definitive book in praise of felines. In his most charming book to date, Roger Caras celebrates, with personal anecdotes and rich historical fact and fancy, the cats he has known and loved. This delightful book includes everything the confirmed ailurophile wants to know about cats, including their evolution, domestication and breeding, as well as their varied roles in other cultures--the historical role of the cat, cats in art, magic and folklore, and much more. And, of course, Caras reminisces about the cats of his acquaintance--those he has loved and those with whom he has tangled. This unique and diversified cat compendium is illustrated throughout with whimsical black-and-white line drawings from various cultures that will make it one of the most enchanting and personal books on cats any feline fancier will ever own. --back cover
