A Commentary on Proverbs

The book of Proverbs is one of the most practical parts of the Bible, giving advice that relates to daily life. We can describe its message as "Christianity in overalls," religious activity extended to everyday life. In this Old Testament commentary, conservative scholar Peter A. Steveson explains Proverbs verse by verse. A wisdom book, Proverbs is well suited to Steveson's straightforward expositional style. Using the King James Version and the Hebrew text, Steveson evaluates widely differing poetic interpretations from a literal hermeneutic. He lists practical applications after each chapter and includes subject studies on, among others, work, eating and drinking, and the fear of the Lord. Valuable for preaching, teaching, and personal or family Bible study. Index of Hebrew words included. - Publisher.
