A Time for Spies

"The story of Theodore Stephanovich Mally, the legendary Soviet intelligence officer who directed the trained Philby, Donald Maclean, and many others, is as significant and compelling as that of Philby himself. In this enlightening new book, former FBI special Agent William E. Duff offers a portrait of Mally and the historical and psychological factors that influenced and motivated him."--BOOK JACKET. "By examining this instrumentally important yet largely ignored figure, Duff provides a unique glimpse into the rapidly evolving world of prewar Soviet intelligence, its people, and its tradecraft. With an audience ranging from Sovietologists to historians and general readers, A Time for Spies is an invaluable contribution to the growing body of Soviet-era studies."--BOOK JACKET.
