A wayward miss

When Anthea Davenport takes up the post of housekeeper to Marcus Lorimer, Earl of Felbeck, she does not expect to have to deal with Miss Jennette Goodison, a spoilt and pretty young heiress and ward of the Earl. And when Jennette falls in love with the unsuitable Merrick Downes, it can only cause trouble, as the Earl has promised Jennette's dying father that he will marry the girl. But Merrick's unworthy sights are set on Jennette's inheritance, and he plans to elope with the headstrong young lady. Only the combined efforts of Marcus, Anthea and the Earl's steward can foil the scheme and set in motion a chain of events which lead to a satisfactory conclusion. --Book jacket.
