About Canada

"In About Canada: The Environment, award-winning author Linda Pannozzo takes us on a whirlwind tour of the philosophical, economic, and ideological landscape forming the backdrop for our current environmental worldview. She makes the connections between our faith in the free market, our adherence to an economic system based on endless growth, and our treatment of Canada's environment. She shows how regulations and protections, where they did exist, have been rolled back, eroded and loosened to benefit the bottom line and how industrial expansion and resource extraction fueled by cheap fossil fuels and an insatiable consumer demand for goods, has taken an unprecedented environmental toll--one that will only to be worsened by the realities of climate change."--
