על הספר
"Antique Garden Ornament: Two Centuries of American Taste is the most complete history of garden ornament in America from 1740 to 1940 ever published. In chapters devoted to fountains, urns, statues, sundials seating, fencing, and many other beautiful objects, Barbara Israel presents a wealth of newly discovered information on American gardens and their ornament, including the historical background for developments in landscape architecture, which influenced the design of individual pieces, houses, and plantations. The book traces the development of American garden ornament from the austerity of the colonial period, through the complexities of the Victorian era, the grandeur of the Gilded Age, and into the refined styles of the early twentieth century."--BOOK JACKET.
