Beyond Secrecy

Tells the little-known story of the Canadian contribution to the Second Vatican Council, a landmark event in the history of the Roman Catholic Church. Amid the celebrations of the Council's 40th anniversary, the author, who has accessed information that was not made public until recently, offers a fuller picture of Canadian involvement at Vatican II. As the only Canadian journalist for English media whoc covered all four working sessions of the Council, he guides readers through the daily proceedings and the backroom dealmaking and dealbreaking, reveals the Vatican policy of keeping information from being disseminated, and underlines the significant Canadian contributions to key Vatican II documents.
