Big Boys' Toys

From tanks to tugboats, tractors to tricycles - a funny, quirky collection of stories and photos about men and their 'toys'.Men grow old but they don't always grow up. In fact, often the only difference between men and boys is the size of their toys ...All over the country, in sheds, hangers and harbours, a silent army of dedicated other halves has been tinkering away restoring war horses and work horses, pleasure craft and mean machines to their gleaming and gargantuan former glory. At last, in Big Boys Toys, these blokes step out into the daylight to be counted, to stand up for what's big and noisy and leaking oil everywhere. Centurion tanks, tug boats, paddle steamers, super tractors, top-fuellers, flying tricycles: you name it, they're fixing it, or painting it, tuning it or replacing the brake pads - once again.Packed with photos and vital statistics, Big Boys Toys lifts the dust sheet and scrapes back the paint to uncover the whos, the hows and, most mysteriously, the whys, of oversized boys and their magnificent toys.
