Bitter fruit

"The first twelve months of my career proved to be highly eventful. I was appointed to teach at a junior school ... succumbed to a nasty dose of pneumonia caused - everyone said - by living in a cold, damp, rented flat, and on Christmas Eve I became engaged to Anita, the most wonderful girl in the world!" In the final part of the "Broome" Trilogy, Rod Broome describes his early days in teaching; a head teacher who died in post, his first position as head teacher in a new open-plan primary school and how this caused staff to learn new methods of teaching. He recalls the day the school got its first computer, and the afternoon when the caretaker dressed up as a snowman!"--Publisher description.
