על הספר
"Already Shela saw that she was different from the other children, for she was the only girl in the class wearing glasses. One boy wore steel rimmed ones with heavy, bottle bottom lenses that made his eyes look enormous and she was sure that he was staring at her." The unfolding of a traumatic span of 70 years, this gripping autobiography tells the story of a woman's struggle, mostly in Bedford, to achieve happiness as she battles against fate, marriange, divorce and family before finally finding contentment in her later years.
