על הספר
Discover Buddha, or Awakened One, in this respected work on his life and philosophy. "A biography of Buddha has not come down to us from ancient times, from the age of the Pali texts; and, we can safely say, no such biography existed then," explains Dr. Oldenberg, who attempts to flesh out the mysterious history of Buddha Shakyamuni. He challenges preconceived notions and helps the reader come to a sense of enlightenment on the subject of Buddhism in this book.
המשפט הראשון: THE history of the Buddhist faith begins with a band of mendicant monks who gathered round the person of Gotama, the Buddha, in the country bordering on the Ganges, about five hundred years before the commencement of the Christian era.
