Caribbean shadows

For tourists, the idyllic island of Provo is a great escape from winter. For Valerie Bynder, it's an opportunity to teach at an international school while mingling with sophisticated foreigners, scuba diving and snapping undersea photos. But when the island's labor director is killed, and a zealous inspector targets her as the murderer, her world is upended. Enmeshed in a web of trouble, jobless, her work permit revoked, and her marriage threatened, she struggles to regain her balance, while also trying to prove she's not a killer. Navigating the political intrigues of Native Turks Islanders, wealthy expatriates, and Haitian immigrants. Val's escapades thrust her into a voodoo ceremony and the path of killer sharks, both undersea and on land, proving she's hot on the trail of the murderer.
