Consolidating Taiwan's Democracy

"Consolidating Taiwan's Democracy assesses the often-heard argument among Taiwan scholars that a change of ruling parties - first in the executive branch of government and then the legislative branch - proves that Taiwan's democratization has been "finalized" or its democracy consolidated. The author contends that other factors are also relevant and that problems Taiwan has experienced since 2000 also casts doubt on this argument."--Jacket.
