Cuba Avant-Garde

"Cuba Avant-Garde encompasses the full scope of contemporary Cuban art history, beginning with the crucial period of the early 1980s, which saw the resurgence in artistic production and political openness that marked the rebirth of "New Cuban Art." Showcasing one of the premier private collections in this field, Cuba Avant-Garde features rarely exhibited works, some never before reproduced outside Cuba. Written by a Cuban art historian in Havana, the book's international scope encompasses the global Cuban community, from artists living on the island to those residing in the United States, Europe, South America, and beyond. Cuba Avant-Garde examines a rich and varied history that few outside Cuba have had the opportunity to explore."--BOOK JACKET.
