David M. Schwarz/Architectural Services

"Since 1976, David M. Schwarz/Architectural Services has established an international reputation for acutely sensitive urbanism, architecture, historic preservation, interiors, furniture, and decorative arts, reinvigorating the notion of a comprehensive design practice against the currents of ever-contracting professional specialization.". "This book presents a retrospective of the firm's work over its first 25 years, an eclectic body of accomplishment defined by substantive, specific inquiry rather than by ideology or style. From its first office and apartment developments in the firm's hometown of Washington, D. C., to its progressive but tradition-steeped designs in Texas of the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall and the Ballpark in Arlington, to its landmark Environmental Sciences Center at Yale University, the firm makes its priorities clear. These are places for people to advance their ideals of community and civic life - they are noble yet personable, contemporary yet timeless."--BOOK JACKET.
