"The Lambeth Conference of Anglican bishops and primates in 1998 will long be remembered for the rancour and heated disagreement in the debating hall on the place of homosexual Christians in the life of the Church. However, the working party established as a result of it produced a sensitive and insightful report in which they made, amongst other things, two important discoveries. The first, that meeting face-to-face and re-discovering what it was to listen respectfully to their differences was much better than theoretical debate and attempts to 'win the argument'.
