Farm Houses

"Traditional architecture meets contemporary space and construction in Farm Houses: The New Style, and readers interested in building or adding to a primary residence, weekend getaway, or guest house will find plenty of inspiration here. This book looks at the various ways architects have interpreted the simplicity and good proportions used in 19th century farmhouses to design new, modern structures that complement contemporary lifestyles and space needs. The projects represent farmhouses from across rural America, including both new construction and additions, and have been selected for excellence in design and innovative use of materials and construction methods. Each one includes interior and exterior photography, floor plans, and concise, informative text highlighting the design and technical aspects of the house. Various regional styles are explored in detail, including New England, the South, and the Pacific Northwest. Farm Houses: The New Style is a fresh take on a classic structure, allowing homeowners and architects to combine the best of both worlds."--Publisher's website.
