Fields in the English landscape

"This book takes the reader on a chronological history from remote prehistoric times to the present, explaining how the agricultural landscape has evolved at different times. It makes the reader familiar with the historical evolution of the English landscape through its fields, paddocks, water-meadows, terraces, and ridge-and-furrow patterns, and enables the historian or amateur researcher to begin to unravel the history of local fields." "Fields in the English Landscape will be of interest to the historian, the conversationist and any lover of the English countryside."--BOOK JACKET.
