First and Second Kings

Here at last is help for the frustrated student of 1 and 2 Kings. Who has not experienced bewilderment in trying to sort out the Divided Kingdom's many rulers who bore similar names? Moving skillfully back and forth between Israel and Judah, Richard McNeely weaves an understandable account of both kings and events. First and Second Kings includes possible explanations for seeming dating discrepancies, as well as useful historical data regarding other nations of the time: Syria, Assyria, Egypt, Babylon. The author provides geographical information that enables the reader to more easily visualize Adonijah's rebellion, for example, or Jehu's furious ride. Dr. McNeely's liberal use of the findings of archaeology also helps the text spring to life. - Back cover.
