Flashbacks

"If you remember Mick Mackey, Christy Ring, the Rackards, Michael O'Hehir, Eddie Keher, dancing to the sounds of Cliff and Elvis, the Twist and hot pants, this book captures the mood of those moments in an enthralling trip down memory lane." "Primarily a record of Cork's championship hurling over fifty years, Flashbacks describes the highs, lows and passions. It introduces teams and players from other countries, the heroes and stars of many a day. However, it also recalls the popular music, social history and current affairs.". "This book had its origins in the author's love of hurling and memories of stirring matches as boy and man. His vivid recall of match days includes travelling, pre- and post-match atmosphere, the joys, the heartbreak, the tension and the fun. Presented year by year it also includes the major achievements of Cork's football teams." "Parallel to match reports are major news items at home and abroad, changes in fashion and outlook. Number one hits and performers have been interwoven, sometimes in a lighthearted way." "Flashbacks provides a lively mix of sport, politics, history and music. Using match programmes and newspaper cuttings, the author relives every moment."--BOOK JACKET.
