Folk woodcarving

Woodcarving is a representative form of sculpture. With a long history and flawless craftsmanship, it is of high artistry, while being both practical and ornamental. This book illustrates this from four aspects: the historical evolution of China's woodcarving arts, the characteristics of the main schools of folk woodcarvings, the main decorative themes, and decorative motifs of folk architectural woodcarvings. At the same time, it provides over 200 exquisite pictures covering nearly 40 categories, introduced with detailed captions, so that readers will truly be able to capture the elegant aesthetics of China's folk woodcarving arts.
