Their first meeting took place in a Laundromat when he talked her in to sharing a dryer. On their second meeting, he showed up on her doorstep with a brown paper bag holding two flimsy bras and a pair of lace panties. Mary Shields was the new girl in town, a transplanted New Yorker who had learned never to talk to strangers. But in this tiny Indiana town there were only friendly folk.
