The global governance of health is contested: the relationship between the increasing number of international organizations with a specific health remit or control over matters with obvious health impacts is characterized not by collaboration or consistency of purpose, but rather by competition between contending worldviews of health contained in national security, biomedical and economic liberalization policy frames.
