Groupware and Authoring

Groupware is a type of software which helps a group of people to work on a project together even if they are in different locations. The growing Internet and, more generally, the merging telecommunications and computing technologies provide the infrastructure for groupware. Authoring is the most common application for people with computers. Together groupware and authoring constitute one of the most important new application areas of the information age. Groupware and Authoring brings together a group of international experts in the field to examine the human and technical issues surrounding shared writing tools. The book covers the human factors research and requirements behind the design of shared writing tools, the technical factors and innovations involved in building these systems, and specific applications of these tools. It also examines the factors involved in making groupware a commercial product.
