"Growing up on a commune in the sixties, Coorg learns to love peace and brown rice, abide by the lessons of the I Ching, accept his mother's indifference and respect the feelings of cabbages. He also bears the burden of destiny - from birth he has been acclaimed as the new messiah. Then Merlin bursts onto the scene in the form of Marc Bolan." "Temporarily downgraded to messiah-in-waiting at the age of six, Coorg finds worse is to come. His grandparents track him down and abduct him to Ireland where he is renamed Joseph. In a seaside village he learns to love sweets and abide by the rules of the Church. Unloved by all except a brace of kindly aunts, he spends his affection on an abused pony. Vaguely conscious of a continuing duty to put the world to rights, he still has to deal with the pitfalls of adolescence."--BOOK JACKET.
