International Lonely Guy

"International Lonely Guy captures the essence of acclaimed artist Harland Miller, whose work combines a painterly aesthetic with a literary mind and a British sense of humour. His paintings reflect an informed an original perspective on a rich heritage of Pop Art and literature; they are at once impressive, funny, and touching, conveying tangible warmth and a pervasive sense of nostalgia while always playing with the ironies of rhetoric and reputation." "In a foreword by the artist and interviews with Ed Ruscha, Sophie Fiennes, Gordon Burn, and Jarvis Cocker, Miller identifies such diverse influences as Mark Rothko, Northern Soul, Robert Rauschenberg and Roald Dahl, all of whose work can be seen to have left a mark on Miller's textured iconoclastic style."--Jacket.
