Jewish Images In The Comics A Visual History

"Comics, condensing as they do our complex world into succinct phrases and iconic images, often work as a magnifying glass trained on our society--including Judaism and the Jewish people. The portrayal of Jews in comics thus says a lot about how this group has been historically perceived. Moreover, Jewish writers, artists, editors, and publishers have had a major influence on comics, especially in the U.S. In this book, Fredrik Strömberg takes a look at Jewish culture and history as seen through comics"--Jacket, p.
