Liturgy of the Neighbor

"Liturgy of the Neighbor offers a comprehensive and critical analysis of Levinas's philosophy of religion, in dialogue with phenomenology and with attention to morality and theology. It is the first such book-length study on the topic in English." "Guided by a preliminary reading of Levinas's Totality and Infinity and Otherwise than Being, or Beyond Essence, Bloechl returns to Levinas's earliest works and isolates a nascent philosophy of religion that emerges only gradually in the background of what Levinas himself came to call an "ethics of infinite responsibility.""--Jacket.
