Man and Minds in Another Time

In Man and Minds in Another Time, poet Mark Irlanda explores the mysteries of time and of outer and inner space. These verses log his wonderings and delineate the landscape of his dreams. Surreal images and melodic language are used to express these thoughts. The poet contemplates the nature of love won and lost and yet to be. In such poems as "Hearts Rebond" and "A Princess Eye," as well as in "Unfound Love," he ponders the subject. Then the poet considers the puzzle of ambivalence in "Reflection" and in "A Mirror Image." Next to be considered is the nature of ambiguity in "A Feeling Unknown." Primarily, however, he pays homage to the vital function of the imagination and its power to shape our lives, as in "One of Many Dreams," in which the mind explores and achieves the possibilities that the heart only longs for. This is a thoughtful collection of verse by a poet skilled in language and imagery. It is poetry for readers who think and wonder about the human condition. It has versatility in the use of different forms and poetical thoughts about the totality of life. Effective and first-rate poetry about things of essence, this book of poetry is both meaningful and evocative.
