Matawan and Aberdeen

"The history of Matawan and Aberdeen from their humble beginnings over 300 years ago to the turn of the twenty-first century is briefly told herein. ... the histories of Aberdeen Township and Matawan Borough have been intricately entwined. Although for much of their existence the township and the borough shared the same name, each has its own unique character. This work attempts to show both the commonality and the uniqueness of each area, the rich and varied history of what was once referred to as "the Matawans," the people who forged it, and the diverse industry that has taken place there."--Page 7.
