Motion capture in performance

Motion Capture in Performance explores the historical origins, properties and implications of Motion Capture (MoCap), and introduces a new mode of performance for the commercial film, animation, and console gaming industries, 'Performance Capture' (PeCap). It identifies and frames the relationships between performer, system and operator of a MoCap system, and develops and tests a set of first principles through an original series of theoretically informed, practical exercises to guide those working in this emerging field. This ground-breaking study positions PeCap as a distinct interdisciplinary discourse in the fields of theatre, animation, performance studies and film.--Publisher's description.
