Nostalgia

The Russia of Czar Nicholas II was the largest empire in history. Spanning one-sixth of the earth's landmass, it was home to an incredibly heterogeneous populace and geography. In 1909, colour photography pioneer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii was appointed by the czar to systematically document this empire in all its vastness and diversity. 'Nostalgia' presents Prokudin-Gorskii's compelling legacy.
