The 34 subject areas of the text are grouped among 6 specific sections: general considerations concerning fluid requirements, renal solute load, and osmolality; enternal feeding: parenteral feeding; nutritional assessments (including birth weight status and dietary, clinical, anthropometric, and laboratory assessments); specific medical-surgical problems; and follow-up. reference data and standards are summarized in 8 appendices. Detailed literature references are appended to each of the individual subject areas, and tabular data and graphs are given throughout the text.
