On the Edge

Women have been playing hockey for over a hundred years. From novice leagues to world championships, female competitors are skating faster, stronger and smarter every year - making history wherever they go. And nowhere is the game pursued with as much skill and finesse as it is in North America. On the Edge brings the turbulent world of this steel-edged sport front and centre. Interviews with hockey insiders and star players, vivid photographs, a critical look at the media and the hockey establishment, and the challenge of the first Olympics for women's hockey provide a dramatic look at the history, controversies and extraordinary popularity of the game, while highlighting the talented women who play for the love of the sport.
