Pablo Picasso

"In the course of his seventy-year career, Pablo Picasso revolutionized modern painting, sculpture, and printmaking, changing the way we see the world. This book features thirteen paintings and sculptures by Picasso selected from the Museum of Modern Art's virtually unparalleled collection of his work. Picasso's groundbreaking early works Les Demoiselles d'Avignon and Guitar are here, along with important examples of Analytic and Synthetic Cubism, the artist's Neoclassism, and his playful late bronzes. A lively essay by Carolyn Lancher, a former curator of painting and sculpture at the Museum, accompanies each work, illuminating its significance and placing it in its historical moment in the development of modern art and in Picasso's own life."--Jacket.
