Palisades

"Marking the centennial of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission, Palisades: 100,000 Acres in 100 Years celebrates the unique series of parklands, most within sight of the Empire State Building, that is the Palisades Interstate Park. Beginning with turn-of-the-century efforts to stop blasting and quarrying of the Palisades cliffs just across the Hudson River from New York City, this book traces the famous - Theodore Roosevelt, J. P. Morgan, the Rockefellers, and the Harrimans - and the not-so-famous men and women whose donations of time, money, determination, and energy led to the preservation of 100,000 acres within the nations' most densely populated metropolitian region."--BOOK JACKET.
