Passing Through Blue Earth

"As a lifelong visual artist, Cynthia Neely's poems cling closely to those roots of keen imagery, and to a strong sense of place. These poems, airy as hollow bone, are capable of lifting and soaring and yet are clearly grounded in the human experiences of love, loss, illness, tragedy. They receive their push from imagery that speaks to the author from the natural world, but those images give way to the more immediate need of the writing and the author's discovery of the poem's ultimate direction. Lyric in nature, these poems listen to themselves as they go along and invite the reader to listen and discover as well" --
