Pastor Hsi

Pastor Hsi was a traditional Chinese scholar of nineteenth century China, whose life was transformed by the gospel. First published in 1900, his biography is now in its 28th printing. Why is the life of a long-ago Chinese scholar worth reading today? Pastor Hsi experienced danger, adventure, persecution, and great power to heal the sick. But what marked his life the most was not the great things he did for God, but his deep and profound awareness of his dependence upon God. Do you want your life to count for God? I challenge you, as I have been challenged myself, to follow the example of this man. Pastor Hsi lived his life in the "radical middle". He was a man of great balance: while he prayed for the sick, he was also a practicing doctor, using drugs and other medical means at his disposal. While he was very strict and disciplined, he was also loving and kind, particularly to the opium addicts. If you dare to be changed, read on! - Jacket.
