Planning Canada

"Using case studies focusing on Canadian cities and regions, Planning Canada introduces undergraduate students to planning. The book gives students an understanding of how projects and policies are initiated, developed, and implemented. Thirty case studies--contributed by a mix of academics and public, private and non-profit practitioners--present examples that expose students to the diversity of Canadian planning practice and trigger further thought and discussion. Cases are organized into the following key areas: Transportation and infrastructure planning; Natural resource management; Community development and social planning; Housing; Urban regeneration; Participatory processes; Urban design; Urban form and public health All case studies address sustainability, governance, and the role of planners, and help students explore the social and geographic planning issues that are unique to Canada."--
