Rembrandt the printmaker

"This catalogue, compiled by leading authorities, aims to illustrate a broad and representative selection of Rembrandt's finest prints. New areas of research have opened up in recent years, allowing us to follow the progress of his work on each plate and revealing how and when he revised the images at various times during his life. The papers he used are studied and previously unknown watermarks are reproduced. The roles played by Rembrandt's preparatory oil sketches and drawings are also now better understood, and these new insights are presented to a wider public for the first time in this lavishly illustrated volume."--BOOK JACKET.
