Sam Bass

"Sam Bass is still the most popular bandit in Texas history, but fact is, Sam wasn't a very successful bandit. What Texans like about Sam Bass is the fact he wasn't mean. He was a good-natured, careless, likable young fellow, who died of Texas Ranger gunshot on his twenty-seventh birthday in 1878. The author never forgets he is writing about a man whose facts are unimportant in comparison to what he didn't do. It is readable and reliable." --A.C. Greene THE 50 BEST BOOKS ABOUT TEXAS
