Skyscrapers

"The introductory essay, "Skyscrapers Before the New Millenium: A Question of Boom or Bust," addresses the topic of the contemporary skyscraper by looking at the economic and political backdrop of the 1980s and 1990s, as well as significant technological innovations at the turn of the millenium. The projects section surveys contemporary skyscrapers, arranged according to geographic clusters that include North and South America, Australia, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, as well as by nations and cities. The epilogue, "The Elusive Dream," reports on the ongoing race for the world's tallest building, and is accompanied by informative biographies of architects and firms, a list of selected readings and websites, and an index of architects, buildings, and their locations."--Jacket.
