St. Mungo's Robin

"The warden of St. Serf's lies dead in the almshouse garden. It looks as if he was killed on the previous night but there are those who are convinced he was present at that morning's service, and Gil Cunningham promptly finds himself entangled in the internal politics of the almshouse. The elderly residents, the almshouse nurse and Humphrey, her deranged favourite, have all been set against each other by the dead man's scheming - and then there is the discarded mistress and the almshouse ghost to consider." "Tracing the warden's last movements between the cathedral precinct and the shores of the Clyde, Gil is alternately helped and hindered by his two sisters, who are visiting Glasgow for his wedding to Alys. The field of suspicion grows even wider, and then an uncanny event precipitates the crisis. At last, it is Alys who shows Gil how to untangle the threads and identify the warden's murderer."--BOOK JACKET.
