Stephen Chambers

"Stephen Chambers is one of the painter Royal Academicians who has emerged as one of the most challenging and resourceful artists of his generation with work in both public and private collections across the world. This book explains his enthusiasms and influences and showcases his work from early to the present. As Andrew Lambirth writes 'Chambers wants to reveal some of the more interesting aspects of life we might otherwise miss Beauty in the hands of Stephen Chambers is often subversive but always strangely uplifting. His paintings with their unusual colour combinations and frequently intricate patterns excite the mind and refresh the spirit'. Chambers work is instantly recognizable from its intense colours and clean lines, and as the critic Tim Hilton pointed out years ago, he is really an abstract painter who makes very good use of figurative elements."--Jacket.
