Street art, street life

"Street Art, Street Life examines the street as subject matter, venue, and source of inspiration for nearly forty international artists and photographers from the 1950s to the present. "The street" is a common referent for today's art, yet the history of this idea has rarely been contextualized and unpacked for a closer reading." "Looking broadly at street photography; documentation of performances, events, and artworks presented the street; as well as works made using material scavenged from the street, this volume provides an invaluable perspective on an issue that has become one of today's key concepts in contemporary art."--Jacket.
