Stretching the truth

"In this study of people's expectations of truth and reconciliation commissions in 5 African countries, the authors demonstrate that the presumed beneficiaries of TRCs are largely disappointed with their performance. The authors argue that the hasty, 'copy-cat' recourse to TRCs in Africa has tendd to overlook serious flaws in the conceptualization and design of TRCs as transitional justice mechanisms." -- Back cover.
