String Music

"String Music: Inside the Rise of SEC Basketball is the story of a decade in SEC basketball - a decade of unprecedented growth and excitement, of tremendous improvement, and of increased importance. The story starts with the SEC's expansion to include Arkansas and South Carolina for the 1991-92 season and ends with the SEC as the nation's strongest conference today, top to bottom. Statistics bear out that contention: in the 2001-02 season, the SEC led the nation's conferences in ratings percentage index (RPI) and non-conference winning percentage, and nine SEC schools participated in postseason tournaments." "Author Chris Dortch takes a look at the players, coaches, and events showcased in the last ten years, bringing the reader inside the rivalries created, to the Final Fours and championships, and behind the scenes of the all-important administrative emphasis on basketball that gave the conference that last boost needed to excel. Drawing on exhaustive research that included interviews with every SEC coach and on more than fifteen years of covering the league as a beat writer, Dortch is able to give readers the most detailed look ever at SEC basketball and its inner workings."--Jacket.
