Swing Landscape

"The book "Swing Landscape: Stuart Davis and the Modernist Mural" accompanies an exhibition of the same title, the first to explore the mural's aesthetics and history in depth. The exhibition and catalogue exemplify the type of serious research, inspired by the museum's collection, that should be undertaken by a teaching museum located within a major research university such as Indiana University. The project advances scholarship on Swing Landscape, examining its place in Davis's larger oeuvre, its relationship to other abstract murals painted in the 1930s, and its commission for the Williamsburg Housing Project in Brooklyn"-- "Published to accompany the exhibition Swing Landscape : Stuart David and the Modernist Mural, organized by the Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art, Indiana University, Bloomington.
