Tales, tellers and texts

"Tales, Tellers and Texts explores the wide range of narratives currently available and what can happen when children engage with them. Stories from the literary canon - by Chaucer. Shakespeare and George Macdonald, for example - are considered alongside other genres such as first person poetry, oral storytelling from different cultures and the visual narratives of picture books. Exciting and popular current multimedia texts are also discussed while older, more traditional narratives are given a new twist in the form of contemporary historical fiction and through work with museum artefacts and paintings."--BOOK JACKET
